Administrative / Biographical History

H K Lewis & Company Ltd was founded by Harry King Lewis in 1844 as a medical publisher and bookseller. The firm occupied 136 Gower Street and 28 Gower Place. In 1989 the business was purchased by Pentos publishing group, which dissolved in 1997. It is now owned by Waterstone's.
