Administrative / Biographical History

Pendlebury township was situated in the ancient ecclesiastical parish of Eccles. A small detached part of the township once known as Shoresworth, was included in Salford Borough from 1853 and added to the township of Pendlebury in 1863. In 1933 all the townships within Swinton and Pendlebury Urban District were amalgamated into one township called Swinton and Pendlebury. The whole township was within Salford poor law union.
