The vast majority of the collection consists of film and glass negatives, slides and black and white prints used by Lockhart in his book Living Anatomy: A Photographic Atlas of Muscles in Action and Surface Contours , London, Faber (first published in 1948). The images are of the body in action. Other materials in the collection include some draft manuscripts and proofs of the book, and research notes on the human body.
