Scope and Content

1. William James, White Lion Cottage, Pwlltrap, St. Clears, licensed victualer, and Elizabeth James his wife.

2. Sarah Nicholas of Gilfachyblawd, in Llanwinio parish, spinster.

MORTGAGE: The document recites the will of James Thomas, late of the White Lion, deceased (see BDRMAS/1 above) whereby he bequeathed the White Lion (after the death of his wife, Mary Thomas) to his grandaughter, Elizabeth James, then Elizabeth Powell. That James Thomas died 3rd May 1875 and that the wiill was proved at Carmarthen Probate Registry by Elizabeth James nee Powell, the testators granddaughter and surviving executrix. Now by this indenture the said William James and Elizabeth James mortgage to Sarah Nicholas the White Lion to secure £60 and interest.
