On the inside front cover there is a bookplate with a printed coat of arms and the words 'E LIBRIS ROBERTI MARCHIONIS DE CREWE' and the name 'Michael Phillips' written in pencil in a modern hand below it. On f.78v there is a pencilled drawing of a lady wearing a long dress and high heels and holding what appears to be a small lamp or goblet

University o f Glasgow : Blackhouse charters
Precept of sasine following the charter by King Charles II granting to the University of Glasgow the whole subdeanery of Glasgow, with the annexed churches of Cadder and Monkland, teinds great and small, rectory and vicarage thereof, and right of patronage; with a new donation, confirming all former mortifications of the said subdeanery to be united to the patrimony of the said university under provision that the professor of theology shall enjoy the honours and privileges of the sub-dean of the chapter of Glasgow, and shall have, for filling the office of sub-dean, one chalder of victual and 100 merks yearly, to be paid out of the teinds and revenues of the subdeanery; and further, under condition that the ministers serving the cure in the churches of Cadder and Monkland shall be allowed modified stipends, not exceeding 24 chalders of victual, or 18 chalders, whereof 4 to be of barley and the rest of oatmeal, with 600 pounds in money, and a chalder and a half of oatmeal for the communion elements, and also their respective manses and glebes, to be held by the masters in free alms of the Crown, for the aforesaid rent to the aforesaid professor of theology and ministers of Cadder and Monkland.
