Two letters dated June and July 1787, containing the signatures of those who promised to subscribe to the proposed publication of the Order of the Peerage by Thomas Brydson. There are 151 autograph signatures, including those of David Dalrymple, William Robertson, Adam Smith, Robert Burns, and many members of the Scottish nobility, scholars and professional men.

Thomas Brydson (fl. 1785-1815) was a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Edinburgh. In 1795 he published A summary view of heraldry in reference to the usages of chivalry and the general economy of the feudal system: with an appendix respecting such distinctions of rank as have place in the British constitution.
