Source / Rules	ISO 639-2 for the langcode attribute
Format	3 character alphanumeric for the langcode attribute
Collection/Component level	Required at collection level and useful to include at component level where appropriate (if more than one language is included)
Tips/Recommendations	The language is always required, even if the material is in English List languages in the order of significance (not alphabetically) If you have problems finding a language on the ISO list, check for variations in the Ethnologue language name index Language may be supplemented by additional information given elsewhere in the description If the collection consists primarily of non-text material such as photographs, check for labels, captions or annotations and use these as the basis for the language
