Administrative / Biographical History
The Glasgow & West of Scotland Metal Merchants' Association first met on 27 May 1913 at the offices of their appointed secretaries, Thomson McLintock & Co , chartered accountants, Glasgow, Scotland. The Association was formed by the principal metal merchants in Glasgow for the purposes of "carrying out an agreement entered into with the Glasgow & West of Scotland Master Plumbers' Association " and "protecting their own general interests". This agreement concerned the setting of trade discounts and prices. The name was changed to the Glasgow & West of Scotland Plumbers' Merchants' Association on 01 February 1967 . The Association wound up on 30 January 2003 with the assets and liabilities being equally discharged among the members.
