Scope and Content

Many, but not all, programmes, have decorated covers and include adverts for local companies, the programme of the show, and the names of people involved. Some have black and white photographs of the cast. GB 248 DC 401/9/1-8 also contain adverts and illustrations designed by Ochre [Charles Oakley], D Miller Thomson, Cecil Orr, Colin Comrie, J Stewart Bauchop, T Neill, Frew, S Morley, Bill Neill, and James Friell. The programmes were more simply produced in the 1950s, without the colour covers and adverts of the 1920s and 1930s examples. These are Charles Oakley's own copies as he was involved with the productions.

Administrative / Biographical History

The College Pudding was an annual review staged by the Students' Representative Council of the University of Glasgow in association with societies at the University, such as the Glasgow University Dramatic Society, the Dramatic Club and Dialectic Society. The proceeds went to the Charities' Day Fund. A College Pudding programme/magazine was produced for every show.
