Administrative / Biographical History

Incorporated in January 1974  , International Marine Constructors Ltd was set up to promote and market the business interests of its four individual constituent member firms in the development of harbours, shipyards and ship repair facilities. The member companies consisted of Associated British Machine Tool Makers Ltd , London, England ; Clarke Chapman - John Thompson Ltd , Durham, England ; Scott Lithgow Ltd , Greenock, Inverclyde, Scotland and Costain Blankevoort (UK) Dredging Co Ltd , London . The company's business assets were distributed equally among the syndicate giving each member company a 25 per cent shareholding.

Initially, the company concentrated their interests in Mexico but soon broadened their outlook worldwide.

In 1977, following nationalisation of Scott Lithgow Ltd , British Shipbuilders assumed responsibility for appointing a representative to the company's board of directors. The company's operations subsequently wound down and by 1981 had ceased trading in marine construction.
