Administrative / Biographical History
Alan A H Tait was educated at the School of Architecture of Edinburgh College of Art where he received a Diploma in Architecture in 1961, and Jesus College, Cambridge, where he graduated PhD 1965. He was appointed as Senior Lecturer in the Department of History of Art at the University of Glasgow in 1976, and as Reader in 1982. He was then appointed Richmond Chair of Fine Art on 1 Oct 1984, a post he held until his retirement in 2002.
