Pott, Cassels & Williamson , engineers, was founded in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, in 1892 . In 1958 , the company was acquired by Mirrlees Watson Co Ltd , sugar machine manufacturers, Glasgow, Scotland, which in turn was acquired by A & W Smith & Co Ltd in 1967 . The company traded as part of Smith Mirrlees until c1971. Smith Mirrlees was acquired by Fletcher & Stewart Ltd in 1988.
