The Cecilian Society, a University of Glasgow society for students interested in musical theatre, was founded on the 18th of October in 1952. The society was created with the intent of promoting the various and wide ranging interests in music among University of Glasgow students.
The Society encompassed many different activities involving music, which included lectures, concerts, discussion and debates on musical topics, and organised visits to important Scottish events such as the Edinburgh Festival. From their creation until present, the Cecilian Society continues to organise productions of musicals and other plays.
The Society celebrated their 60th Anniversary in October 2012. More information on the society, including information on past productions and present members of the Committee, can be found on their website .
