Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Great Northern Investment Trust Ltd was incorporated on 31 October 1924 with registered offices at 154 St Vincent Street, Glasgow, Scotland. In 1969, it merged with the Home & Foreign Investment Trust Ltd, Edinburgh, Scotland, with whom it already shared directors. In 1970, it merged with the Clyde & Mersey Investment Trust Ltd before merging again in 1982 with the Rothschild Investment Trust to become R I T & Great Northern plc. In 1984 R I T & Great Northern plc joined Charterhouse Group International, investment bankers, New York.
