Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The City Business Club was founded in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1912 to promote the business and social interests of its members, who held 'executive' posts. The club held weekly luncheons with distinguished speakers and organised other social events. The first meeting of the club was held at the Grosvenor Restaurant, opposite Central Station, Glasgow, but throughout its history it met in many other venues in Glasgow, including the Windsor Hotel, Western Club and Arcade Caf. The Club was incorporated as the City Business Club, Glasgow, Ltd in 1927 and in 1964 it went into voluntary liquidation.
