Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons (Newcastle-upon-Tyne) Ltd , civil engineering contractors, London, England, was incorporated as a limited liability company by the family partnership of Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons , civil engineering contractors, London, England, in 1931 with a share capital of £100,000. The company was established to take control of the parent companies civil engineering contract work in the north-east of England in a similar way as Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons (London) Ltd was already doing in the south of England. The company's first directors were Sir Robert McAlpine and his sons, Robert, William Hepburn, Sir Malcolm, Alfred, Thomas, Robert (Robin) and Robert Edwin along with an employee of the partnership, James Bryden.
Major contracts included construction of the Dunston power station, Dunston, Tyne & Wear, England, for the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Electric Supply Co Ltd and a Quay extension for the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Corporation . The company hired is plant from the parent company, and was registered at the London office of Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons on Pall Mall.
In 1984 , the company changed its name to Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons (Construction) Ltd and then became Sir Robert McAlpine (Construction) Ltd in 1992. In 2003, the company was dormant.
