Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Dougalstoun Estate was situated in the parish of New Kilpartrick, East Dunbartonshire, Scotland, and about one mile outside of the town of Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire . The land was owned by the Glassford family before passing into the hands of Robert Kerr sometime prior to 1883 . Upon Robert's death in 1888, the estate was managed by a Trust comprising his family and close friends. The estate covered 1800 acres, includes a mansion house and Dougalstoun Loch. The Trust was still operating in 1944 .
