A & J Faill Ltd was founded in 1858  in Dennistoun, Glasgow, Scotland, where the company operated as quarriers. In A & J Faill Ltd 1883,  took on new premises on Great Clyde Street, Glasgow. The company owned Westfield whinstone quarry at Croy, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, and leased Craigpark Quarry, Glasgow; Furnace and Crarae quarries, Loch Fynne, Argyll & Bute; Scotland; and Bonawe and Craigpoint granite quarries, Loch Etive, Argyll & Bute. With the death of J Faill, jnr, in 1936  , A & J Faill Ltd dissolved the quarrying side of the business yet retained the company name. The company was responsible for laying most of the tramlines in Glasgow, as well as acting as paving contractors to Glasgow Corporation. In 1984  the company went into receivership and was dissolved in 1990.
