Administrative / Biographical History
Donald Cameron Bowie was born c1898 in Old Cumnock, East Ayrshire, Scotland. He matriculated into the medical faculty at the University of Glasgow in 1913. In his first year he studied Chemistry, Practical Chemistry, Zoology, and Practical Zoology. In his second year he studied Anatomy and Physiology. His third year studies consisted of Clinical Surgery, Pathology, and Materia Medica. In fourth year he studied Clinical Medicine, Medicine, Surgery and Midwifery. During his final year he specialised in Ears, Nose and Throat. He graduated MB ChB in 1918 and later gained a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (FRCS (Ed)) and Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners (FRCGP).
He worked as a medical doctor and later became the Regional Postgraduate Dean of the British Postgraduate Medical Federation at the University of London . He died in London, England on 7 September 1983.
