Administrative / Biographical History
The Commissioners of the New Edinburgh Gaol and County Court Rooms , Edinburgh, Scotland, were appointed by an act of Parliament in 1813 entitled: "An Act for erecting and maintaining a new gaol, and other buildings, for the County and city of Edinburgh". They met regularly in the council chambers, Charlotte Square, Edinburgh. J A & J L Campbell & Lamond were the commissioners solicitors. The Commissioners appear to have existed beyond 1839 although no records survive.
