Scene planning for Next of Kin: sketch of Colona Beach, with notes on where attacks were to take place, with arrows indicating both the ally’s and enemy’s movements. Dickinson received help from army officers in planning the battle scenes, in order to make it as authentic looking as possible.
In 1940 Dickinson was asked to make a feature length film about security for the Ministry of Information (MOI). The film was released in 1942, after various problems such as bad weather [recorded in the daily production reports] and lack of resources. On its release, it received criticisms from the MOI that the film would damage morale.
