The Dewsbury team at Dewsbury train station before departure to London for the first Rugby League Cup final at Wembley in 1929. As the train left the crowd cried out 'Bring T'Cup back'. The Rugby League did not possess a suitable stadium large enough to stage the final of the Challenge Cup and on 24 October 1928 decided to play the game at Wembley. A crowd of 41,500 saw Dewsbury defeated by Wigan by 13 points to 2.
