Portolano chart
17th century portolano charts: the coasts of Western Europe and North-western Africa, as drawn by Franciscus Oliva in Marseille in 1650; portolano (or pilot-book) charts showed sailing directions between seaports, and are now admired as much for their decorations as for their historical information.
