- Alison Uttley (1884-1976) Derbyshire-born author, whose books for children include Little Grey Rabbit's Christmas, Grey Rabbit and the snow baby, and Squirrel goes skating.
- Valentines of Dundee Ltd Christmas card manufacturers established in 1851 (and still in business today as a subsidiary of John Waddington Ltd).
