The material comprises correspondence about the conception and organisation of the exhibition, and correspondence with lenders and contributors; manuscripts of Jones's writings about the exhibition; printed material including proofs of the catalogue and cover design; and press cuttings documenting the reception of the exhibition.

Administrative / Biographical History

'Black Eyes and Lemonade', a Festival of Britain exhibition of popular arts, was organised by Barbara Jones and Tom Ingram, in association with the Arts Council and the Society for Education, and held at the Whitechapel Art Gallery from 11 August to 6 October 1951.
