Harvesting from an OAI-PMH endpoint
If you aren't already a contributor to Archives Hub, please take a look at how you can become a contributor.
If your system has an OAI-PMH endpoint, Archives Hub can harvest your records for publication. We need to know a few things, listed below, before we can harvest your records.
How to contribute using an OAI-PMH endpoint
To harvest your records, we need to know:
- The URL of the endpoint.
- If any authorisation is needed for the endpoint, such as a token or a username/password.
- Whether you would like us to harvest a set of records, or all of the records from the endpoint.
- Whether you would like us to harvest periodically and if so, at what frequency (e.g. quarterly or every six months).
We currently have workflows for the following systems. Please click on the link for your system which will scroll you down to the guidance we provide for that specific system.
If your system is not listed above but has an OAI-PMH endpoint, please contact us and we can discuss whether we are able to harvest from your endpoint.
ArchivesSpace
We should be able to harvest your descriptions in EAD directly from ArchivesSpace via OAI-PMH. If you have any trouble with providing the information for your OAI-PMH endpoint, you can look at the documentation provided online or contact ArchivesSpace.
Please contact us to provide the information listed above and we can start harvesting your records from Epexio.
AtoM
We should be able to harvest your descriptions in EAD directly from AtoM via OAI-PMH. If you have trouble setting up your OAI-PMH endpoint in AtoM, there is useful information in the AtoM documentation. Artefactual may also be able to help.
Please contact us to provide the information listed above and we can start harvesting your records from AtoM.
Epexio
We should be able to harvest your descriptions in EAD directly from Epexio via OAI-PMH. Metadatis will be able to set up an endpoint for you and provide the details outlined above.
Please contact us to provide the information listed above and we can start harvesting your records from Epexio.
