Data Creation
Exporting from CALM
We have created an export template to get Archives Hub EAD from Calm. You will need to add this to your own Calm system in order to export Archives Hub EAD.
We have a detailed Guide to Cataloguing and Exporting for the Archives Hub
There are video tutorials about exporting from Calm on our YouTube channel.
- As we work with more Calm users, we gradually improve our pipelines. We aim to strike a balance between meeting differing needs and creating a rigorous process that generates good quality data.
- The master copy of the data should be within the Calm system, so that the Hub data reflects the Calm data. This means that we need a consistent approach that can be replicated over time
- We need EAD that is both valid and meets Hub requirements We have a number of processes that can transform ingested data into Hub compliant data, but we may have to provide an error report to you if we find content that needs to be corrected
- When you first send us exports, we will analyse the data and may send you an error report listing issues we cannot address ourselves through our pipeline or global processing. This might include missing fields, date errors and duplicate references.
- It is likely that ongoing modifications to our pipelines will be required in line with different cataloguing practices and Calm system enhancements
Next Steps
If you want to export from Calm, you will need to take the export template and add it to your system. The Guide gives you step-by-step instructions for adding the export template. You can then send us a sample of Calm EAD exports. Please email us if you would like to do this.
Calm EAD Export Templates
We have created a number of templates over time. You will need to use the current template if you want to take advantage of the improvements made. Please talk to us if you want to export from Calm and are not sure about how to install or use the template.
Collection Level TemplateYou only need to use this if you have multi-level descriptions but you *just* want to export collection level descriptions. Otherwise please use the main export template.
