Spokes

Most of the Archives Hub descriptions are hosted centrally. Spokes are institutions that host their own descriptions locally. The descriptions are searched as part of the central Hub, so users will not notice any difference between Spoke records and records held centrally.

Becoming a Spoke gives you:

  • An administrative interface to create, edit and submit descriptions to the database
  • A customisable web interface for your own institution, to search your own descriptions
  • An integrated EAD Editor to create and edit descriptions

To become a Spoke you must maintain the necessary technical infrastructure, providing a secure server for the software, and have technical support to maintain the hardware and software over time.
