The Championship final of 1907-08 was the second season in which a top four play off was used to determine the Northern Union champions. It was also the second year of the most revolutionary rule change in the game's history --- the change from fifteen to thirteen-a-side. Hunslet won the replay by 12 points to 2 and became the first club to win all four major trophies (Championship, Challenge Cup, County Cup and County League) in the same season.
