Cycle Roundabout

Cycle Roundabout

Frank Wilson's Bicycle Roundabout circa 1900.

This image is taken by Harold Dever whose full collection resides at Surrey History Centre.

This is an original bicycle roundabout from over 100 years ago. The ride is a 'human-powered' ride that enjoyed success in the late 19th Century. The story goes that such a ride was once commandeered by a group of amateur cyclists who proceeded to power the ride to such a speed that the operator was in fear of the whole structure collapsing!
