Administrative / Biographical History
Born in Liverpool in 1849 Carlotta Addison was the daughter of E.P. Anderson, former proprietor of the Doncaster Theatre Royal, and went on to become Mrs Charles A. La Trobe. She made her first theatrical appearance as a child in Tom Taylor's play Nine Points of the Law at the Amphitheatre in Liverpool. Her first appearance on the London stage was on October 6, 1866 as Lady F. Touchwood in Belle's Stratagem at the St. James' Theatre and she continued to perform on London and regional stages almost continuously (bar a four-year absence from 1882-1886) until her death in London, 1914.

This collection is available for consultation in the V&A Department of Theatre and Performance's Reading Room, which is located at Blythe House, 23 Blythe Rd, Olympia, London, W14 0QX.
