Paneth Lantern Slides

Scope and Content

Lantern slides and negatives of items in the F.A. Paneth (East Prussian) Amber Collection deposited in the University of Durham's Dept of Geology. The collection of amber specimens, artifacts, and creatures entombed in amber, to which these slides and negatives relate was formed by Professor Friedrich Adolf Paneth (1887-1958), Prof. of Chemistry in the University of Durham 1939-53. His fascination with amber began when he occupied the chair of chemistry at Königsberg in East Prussia between 1929 and 1933.
