Anonymous Art Student's Diary

Scope and Content

The diary begins on 30 December 1852 and has extensive, irregular entries on art, art history, friends (especially young women) and the Royal Academy to 5 July 1853. There is one further entry, dated 11 August, on which occasion the author notes he was in Colyton.

Administrative / Biographical History

The author appears to have been educated in Exeter, as he reminisces about a vestry school room in the city. He mentions a return to Devon.
