Walsh Papers

Scope and Content

The volume is a series of notes in Latin made by Walsh, dated 1853-4, while he was in Rome. In later years he has interleaved it with observations in English of a spiritual nature, and sermons. The latest of these is dated 1877. The notebook is a MS fair copy of a treatise, undated, in Latin, entitled 'De Christianis Sacramentis Generatim ex praelectionibus P.Passaglia'. The volume also has records of a series of 1859 trips to Dartmoor by Walsh on pp212-213

In 1897 he became Archdeacon and Canon of Canterbury and finally Suffragan Bishop of Dover in 1898, resigning this last post in 1916. His only noted publication was the Progress of the Church in London during the last fifty years (1st ed 1887, 2nd ed 1908).
