Thomas Moody, Journal of a tour through Switzerland and Italy in 1822.

A tour made by way of Paris and Dijon, Lake Lucerne, the Rhone Glacier, Lake Como, Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, Herculaneum, Naples, Modena, Genoa and Versailles. List of foreign currency equivalents at front.

24 original watercolour illustrations by Joseph Axe Sleap, British artist, some interfoliated. One signed on reverse 'J Sleap begs to say that this is the best drawing he will make at so very low a price' (p.105).

Administrative / Biographical History

Joseph Axe Sleap (1808-1859) became a landscape painter but was only starting to gain recognition by the time of his death.
