Five autograph letters from Charles Wordsworth (1806-1892), bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane.

ms1757: Offers a temporary post to an unknown person in place of Mr Skinner. Perth, 2 June 1869.

ms1793: To an unknown recipient on Latin etymology (derivation and 'strict meaning of sublimis'). Perth, 28 October 1871.

ms1819: To Mr Dean concerning the daughter of Mr Ogilvy and founder of the school at Alyth, Perthshire. Perth, 28 August 1873.

ms1925: To Canon [John Henry] Overton. Discussing Overton's book on Christopher Wordsworth, a brother of Charles. Mention of the debt of gratitude Charles owes to the Hoare family. St Andrews, 26 July 1887.

ms5045: Envelope addressed to Messrs Smith & Elder, Waterloo Place [ ? ] with letter concerning proof reading and other publishing matters. St Andrews, 23 January 1880. Enclosure: engraving of Rt Rev Christopher Wordsworth DD, Bishop of Lincoln from a printed source.

Charles Wordsworth (1806-1892), Scottish Episcopal bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane, nephew of William Wordsworth, poet.

John Henry Overton (1835-1903) was a Church of England minister, and church historian, publishing The English Church in the Eighteenth Century in 1878. His later works included Life of Christopher Wordsworth, Bishop of Lincoln (1888), having worked with Wordsworth at Lincoln Cathedral for 4 years.
