Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Caernarfonshire County Herb Committee was formed at the University of Wales, Bangor in March 1942 by representatives of various organisations interested in the medicinal use of herbs and plants, particularly in wartime. Participating organisations included the Botanical Department at the University, the Local Education Committee, the Rural Community Council, the Women's Institute, and the Boy Scout and Girl Guide movements. During World War II the Directorate of Medical Supplies at the Ministry of Supply sponsored the Committee which disbanded in 1946.
