Comprises: (1) ["Account of the Meteor as seen at Spacey House near Pannall, August 18th 1783"], in the form of a letter addressed "To the Philosophical & Literary Society Leeds", dated Leeds, February 4th, 1784, and signed Wm. Hey; ff. 14. (2) Another copy, unsigned, in a different hand, with two coloured illustrations and with the title given above; pp.14. (3) "On the method of guarding buildings etc. from the destructive effects of lightning", unsigned and undated, in the same hand as item 1; pp. 22. (4) "Part of Mr. Farish's Lectures on the various Arts and Manufactures - at Cambridge", notebook, pp. [72]. (5) Note by Professor R. Whiddington about the papers, dated 23.7.51. Administrative / Biographical History

William Hey, 1736-1819, F.R.S., was one of the founders of the Leeds General Infirmary where he served as a senior surgeon from 1773 to 1812
