Administrative / Biographical History

John Alexander Lloyd (1878-1960) was born in Birmingham and educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham, and at London and Birmingham Universities. Working in Ludwigshafen at the outbreak of War and held British Civil Prisoner of War, he was interned at Ruhleben, 1914-1918, living in Barrack No. 11. There he taught physics, studied leatherwork and bookbinding, and took part in amateur dramatics.
