Administrative / Biographical History

W.J. Hodges was born in Aberdare, Wales, in 1895 and educated at Wycliffe College. As a Private, later Corporal, 23rd (Sportsman's) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, and 2nd Lieutenant, 5th Battalion, Welsh Regiment, he served in Egypt/Palestine. He was hospitalised in Malta and Italy in 1915 before returning to Egypt/Palestine.
