Administrative / Biographical History

Arthur Butler Clough (1888-1989), a Brigadier, was born in Lanarkshire, educated at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, and commissioned into the Royal Engineers in 1909. He was a Lieutenant in Nigeria at the outbreak of the war in 1914 and was sent to the Cameroons. He was sent home from West Africa in 1916, and served on the Western Front until the end of the war.
