Royal Agricultural College

The Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, the first such institution in the English-speaking world, was founded in 1845 with the aim of introducing science into agriculture and educating the country's future farmers. Its archive reflects its position at the forefont of agricultural teaching and research in the western world and includes images, minutes, accounts, correspondence, student lists and financial and legal documents.

The Archive contains the following collections, all of which will be made available on the Hub:

  1. The organisational archive of the RAC
  2. A collection of 28 botanical watercolours, 'Flowers of the Forest' undertaken by John Patten from 1906-1926
  3. The personal papers of Lord Barber of Tewkesbury re. agriculture in the UK, 1939-1992
  4. Copies of the Lord Bledisloe Memorial Lectures, 1959-1978
  5. Scientific papers of Dr GW Cooke CBE FRS, 1939-1988
  6. Student notes of JCB Bevan, 1948-1950
