Institute for the Study of the Americas: the Americas Library

The Institute for the Study of the Americas was officially established in August 2004 as a result of a merger between the Institute of Latin American Studies and the Institute of United States Studies. The library of the former is now known as the Latin American Studies Library of the Institute for the Study of the Americas.

The Library maintains a collection of Latin American research and reference materials including periodicals, monographs and electronic resources, with particular emphasis on humanities and related social sciences. It plays a leading role in the development of Latin American collections in the University of London, and in the European coordination of documentation on Latin America.

The only archives currently held in the library are its collections of political materials, descriptions of which have now been added to the Archives Hub database.

The Library is open for reference purposes to all researchers and postgraduate students. It is a library of last resort for undergraduate students.
