Glasgow University Library, Special Collections Department
The Library's Special Collections Department has one of the finest collections of rare books, manuscripts, and photographs in the UK. Built up over a period of more than 500 years by purchase,gift and bequest, the collections now contain more than 300,000 manuscript items and around 200,000 printed works. Included are some outstanding local collections, such as the Murray Collection, with many items of relevance to Scottish history, and the Scottish Theatre Archive.
