The Frederick Lanchester Collection, Lanchester Library, Coventry University

The collection of material on and about engineer Frederick Lanchester (1868-1946) and his brothers dates back at least to the early 1960's and has grown steadily since. It includes much of Lanchester's correspondence especially on the theory of flight, as well as his sketchbooks and pocket books. There are many photos of Lanchester car models, and an extensive collection of blueprints for parts of the car bodies.

There is an extensive collection of his published works and works about the Lanchester family and company. The Library's policy is to collect as much primary material as possible on all aspects of the Lanchester family, and any secondary material that contributes to the value of the collections.

The Library also has collections on the Gulf Supporters Group, on the works of the painter Waterhouse, and an audio collection, the Richardson Tapes, a collection of oral history material on the Coventry car industry.
